<br><br>
For the textures I created 2 diffuse, some mix maps and a lot of normal/bump maps.
I expecially took care of the bump maps that I used to re-create the seams line and a slight orange peel effect.
<br><br>
I'm really pleased on how the marker sign came out on the upper bolts.

Here we go with the final clay renders (below each image there's a link for the hi-resolution images):

I've finished the bottom part and all the upper biggest details; now it's missing only some cables & tubes and the final sculpted details.
<br/><br/>
My aim for this project is to realize firstly some final render of the motor only, like these:
<br/><br/>

I've finished the front fork, the wheel, the brakes and the frame, adding the weld seams using a sculpting program.
<br/>
<br/>
Here it is a simple test for the weld marks, done with a separate objects subsequently sculpted and baked to obtain the normal maps:
<br/>

And a clay render for the progress done so far:

Searching troughs the various models I immediately fell in love with the agusta bestiale, a concept body mounted on the agusta brutale.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/782/bigmvagustabestiale01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear:left; float:left;margin-right:1em; margin-bottom:1em"><img border="0" width="550" src="http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/782/bigmvagustabestiale01.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Being based on an existing bike I've found the workshop manual for references.<br />
<br />
For the moment I have modeled some parts of the front fork and brake.<br />
<br />
Here's the render:<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Now it's time for the environment and lighting, I think I'll do two scenes, one more classic with a backdrop, to show the car, and another more artistic; I have some ideas in mind.<br />
<br />
I will use as render engine cycles to position the reflection light, and Octane for the final render.<br />

<br />
I wanted to show you how to add some textures to a material to reach the effect called whethering. <br />
For this example I'll use a simple sphere with a hole, inside which there is a small screw.<br />
Here you can see the wire and a render test for uv mapping (uv mapping is essential for texturing).<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5669809255/" title="wire di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5068/5669809255_2da158bf83.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="wire"></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5670378576/" title="uv di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5141/5670378576_5c874aac52.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="uv"></a><br />
<br />
This is the texture order for the shpere:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675184421/" title="dettaglio1 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5142/5675184421_2c767a6965.jpg" width="419" height="123" alt="dettaglio1"></a><br />
<br />
and for the detail: <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675230051/" title="dettaglio2 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5147/5675230051_f9792500d4.jpg" width="419" height="123" alt="dettaglio2"></a><br />
<br />
<br />
First af all you need to set a basic material:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5670374616/" title="new di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5302/5670374616_671944bece.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="new"></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675204159/" title="screen7 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5266/5675204159_31c2780d6b.jpg" width="212" height="500" alt="screen7"></a><br />
<br />
I set to 0 the specular intensity value because we will use a texture to control it.<br />
Let's apply the first set of textures (diffuse and specular), using the same image.<br />
In this case I used "RustPaint0304_L" from cg textures.<br />
<br />
Use this parameters for diffuse:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675745864/" title="screen1 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5183/5675745864_f1b56412d6.jpg" width="313" height="500" alt="screen1"></a><br />
<br />
and specular:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675183931/" title="screen2 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5065/5675183931_1f9d5e1e31.jpg" width="313" height="500" alt="screen2"></a><br />
<br />
Reaching this result:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5670375202/" title="passo1 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5141/5670375202_9af4aacdc7.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="passo1"></a><br />
<br />
After this step you'll have a nice bump texture, and a slight change in color, but the rust will not be satisfactory at all.<br />
<br />
To enhance the rust I used a stencil map + a plain rust image; the stencil was created in photoshop from the image used in the previous step modifying the levels, getting a picture with a markedly contrasts:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675771788/" title="stenic2 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5064/5675771788_d75f57de5e.jpg" width="500" height="344" alt="stenic2"></a><br />
<br />
Now apply this image as a stencil using the following parameters:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675746650/" title="screen3 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5302/5675746650_71413c48df.jpg" width="313" height="500" alt="screen3"></a><br />
<br />
below the level of the stencil I put a picture of generic rust (in this case Rust0185_1)<br />
After rendering, you'll get this result:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5669805881/" title="passo2 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5187/5669805881_abd518a05e.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="passo2"></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now we begin to use the project painting for the discoloration: <br />
we start creating an image 2046x2048 with a level of alpha = 0<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675747400/" title="dettaglio3 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5107/5675747400_80562b25fd.jpg" width="312" height="230" alt="dettaglio3"></a><br />
<br />
then enter into texture paint mode and begin to color our ball using a very big brush with a low straight, using colors like dark brown, yellow and green, to simulate the yellowing of the paint, dripping, and other signs of aging.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675747844/" title="screen4 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5264/5675747844_b26cd9281f.jpg" width="500" height="428" alt="screen4"></a><br />
<br />
Save the texture, check "premultiply" and add it in the textures of the material; finally launch a render:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5669806241/" title="passo3 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5226/5669806241_3867476798.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="passo3"></a><br />
<br />
Create another texture with the same parameters of the previous image; in this one draw the details that will be more visible, using the again the project painting.<br />
<br />
At first draw some dots where we want to make the dripping effect and then use the smear tool for stretching the dot down and obtain the desired result. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675186009/" title="screen5 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5229/5675186009_2e0ecc809c.jpg" width="500" height="428" alt="screen5"></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675186339/" title="screen6 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5190/5675186339_6a4baa6663.jpg" width="500" height="428" alt="screen6"></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5675748722/" title="dettaglio4 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5026/5675748722_615bbcde84.jpg" width="319" height="390" alt="dettaglio4"></a><br />
<br />
Wider will be our color palette, more the result will be satisfactory; we can add more colors in the same spot, which will must be mixed together using again the smear tool. <br />
<br />
This technique is the same used for weathering a models kit, using procedures like these: <a href=http://www.mainlymedieval.com/ozpainters/viewtopic.php?t=827>http://www.mainlymedieval.com/ozpainters/viewtopic.php?t=827</a><br />
<br />
Here it's the final result on the sphere with all the texture applied:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5669806793/" title="passo4 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5021/5669806793_084a3293fc.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="passo4"></a><br />
<br />
Be patient during this stage: the more detail you will draw, the more realistic result you'll get.<br />
<br />
Now do the same on the detail.<br />
<br />
Diffuse + specular texture:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5670377224/" title="passo5 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5103/5670377224_b19ee296b9.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="passo5"></a><br />
<br />
Stencil + rust texture:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5670377804/" title="passo6 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5109/5670377804_4265820de5.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="passo6"></a><br />
<br />
And the final result (for the decal, I used photoshop for the chipping paint effect):<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5669804205/" title="wheathered di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5307/5669804205_c3aa8b6ea2.jpg" width="500" height="500" alt="wheathered"></a><br />
<br />
And here is the <a href=http://www.megaupload.com/?d=24TY4ATS>.blend</a> file of my work.<br />
<br />
I hope I was clear; if you don't understand some step, if you have any suggestions or tips, let me know (especially corrections of my poor English).<br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5669021199/" title="update5 di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5025/5669021199_211cf1439c.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="update5"></a><br />
<br />
I lowered the reflectivity of the paint, added rust, leaking and discoloration.<br />
<br />
The modulations of the textures were made with project painting in blender, maybe I'll write a mini-tutorial to say how I did it.<br />
<br />
In addition, the tracks were darkened considerably, making the overall more homogeneous.<br />
<br />
Now begins the post processing stage.Squarehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06950779369795424024noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8385464152518802310.post-33570833342307981462011-04-27T07:16:00.001-07:002011-04-27T07:16:53.316-07:00Metal slug tank 3It's almost finished.<br />
<br />
Here's the result of the textures work:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5660863027/" title="Metal slug textured di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5307/5660863027_0ed8df4035.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Metal slug textured"></a><br />
<br />
I'm not so convinced about the texture of the wall and of the tank (it's too plain), and on the oil slick.<br />
<br />
Things to do: dof, post process with the nodes, add some detail.<br />
<br />

<br />
@pbrad: yep, you're right, I used a physically correct render :) My setup is similar to what you can found in the file "Studio render of Nissan Pathfinder", here:<br />
<a href="http://www.yafaray.org/download/examples">http://www.yafaray.org/download/examples</a><br />
So thanks to the Emirage for the fantastic set-up.<br />
<br />
The environment is finished, here's a clay render:<br />
<br />
<a href=http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5649206816/><img src=http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5143/5649206816_9927529a27.jpg></a><br />
<br />
<a href=http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5649208296/><img src=http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5105/5649208296_f282aaf18b.jpg></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I took inspiration from one of the last tutorial of Andrew Price (here <a href="http://www.blenderguru.com/how-to-create-realistic-outdoor-lighting/">http://www.blenderguru.com/how-to-create-realistic-outdoor-lighting/</a>) adding a bit of details, and a hdri to to improve the reflections.<br />
<br />
It seems over exposed, but adding the texture should fix it.<br />
<br />
And here the wireframe as promised:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5648709293/" title="enviroment wire di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5026/5648709293_8ef80ac941.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="enviroment wire"></a><br />
<br />
The barrels and the shutters were first modeled perfectly straight, and then twisted and ruined using lactice.<br />
<br />
I also uv-unwrap all the models that I need:<br />
<br />
<a href=http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5648688119/><img src=http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5069/5648688119_871a1a0f97.jpg></a><br />
<br />
The next step is the material/texture!<br />
<br />
▲Squarehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06950779369795424024noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8385464152518802310.post-5563936058768220862011-04-22T06:13:00.000-07:002011-04-22T06:13:33.218-07:00Metal slug tankI started this project for a little contest with my friends, where the theme was "tanks". I immediately thought of the famous and fantastic "partner" of all the matches I have done playing Metal Slug, and I started work immediately.<br />
I was inspired by these images:<br />
<IMG src=http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/6895/slug3.jpg><br />
<br />
<IMG src=http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/8462/mscomp011600.jpg><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The result it's this:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5642562809/" title="Metal slug clay di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5189/5642562809_e091bbc30d.jpg" width="500" height="370" alt="Metal slug clay"></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5643131700/" title="Metal slug clay di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5227/5643131700_e94d1395f1.jpg" width="500" height="415" alt="Metal slug clay"></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I also made a turnaround to show all the details (watch it in HD)<br />
<br />
<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SJOnCD8DhMg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now come the wire render of the tank:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5642738965/" title="Metal slug Wire di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5182/5642738965_f8ceda9b04.jpg" width="500" height="281" alt="Metal slug Wire"></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5642739215/" title="Metal slug Wire di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5185/5642739215_52e9e1fe87.jpg" width="500" height="281" alt="Metal slug Wire"></a><br />
<br />
Now, to make a wire rendering it is easier than I thought: first of all you have to give your object a wire material, activating the Z-transparency and setting the z-offset value around 0.02 to 0.03, as in the image:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5642738547/" title="Wire material di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5305/5642738547_b6fd1e9fb2.jpg" width="303" height="500" alt="Wire material"></a><br />
<br />
At this point in the same object, add a second material (which will be the base color) and assign it to the entire object in edit-mode. And that's it all!<br />
<br />
Rendering the scene, and you will have a beautiful wire render:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/61929486@N06/5642742847/" title="Wire di OneTwoThreeSquare, su Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5006/5642742847_c1eed737df.jpg" width="500" height="408" alt="Wire"></a><br />
<br />
The next step is the environment.<br />
<br />
I hope you like it! Stay tuned.<br />
<br />
